Summary:A study of neighborhoods topologies on particle swarm optimization for complex functions is discussed. The suitability of three topologies to the kind of functions is experimented. The convergence features affected by neighborhoods topologies on complex functions are illustrated. To prevent premature phenomenon of the original algorithm, an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm with velocity and position disturbances is used. Simulations have been carried and the results show this improved algorithm has batter performance for complex functions.
