Description
Summary:The diffusion coefficients of ten chemical element atoms in the binary system with helium and neon are calculated on the basis of 12-6 Lennard-Jones and rigid sphere inter-atomic interaction approximations. Cross-sections and rate constants for thermal energy charge transfer and Penning collisions are calculated for all Tl+ and I+ excited states possibly populated via these reactions. For the case of the charge transfer process the theoretical results are compared with the experimentally obtained ones. Since the characteristic constants considered depend on the gas temperature, the gas temperature distribution is also calculated by solving the heat conduction equation for the gas discharges studied.
