Description
Summary:In this paper, we propose a method of adaptive finite element meshing, which is effective for minor shape modifications in optimization of electric machines. In the method, the mesh for the new shape in the optimization process is generated from the mesh of the previous shape with minimum modification. The locations of the nodes for the new shape are decided by solving the Laplace's equation, whose unknowns are displacements of the nodes. The adaptive finite element meshing is started from the modified mesh. The method can reduce the calculation time and improve the quality of the optimized results.
