Light-induced Changes in Carotenoid Composition in Cultured Green Cells of Nicotiana tabacum
Photosynthetic pigments in cultured green cells and in leaves of tobacco were investigated. Summary: | Photosynthetic pigments in cultured green cells and in leaves of tobacco were investigated. Total contents of pigments related to the xanthophyll cycle in cultured cells were almost three times greater than those in leaves, and they increased with an increase in the intensity of growth light, suggesting cultured cells are much more susceptible to light than leaves and avoid light stress by the xanthophyll cycle. |
