Summary: | Treatment of phobia in elderly patients has received little attention in the literature, despite the reportedly high prevalence of phobia in older individuals. Reported is a case of successful treatment of a complex geriatric patient with claustrophobia, which had prevented him from completing necessary audiological examinations. Clinicians are urged to assess elderly patients for anxiety disorders and to consider behavioral treatment for phobias which have been widely and successfully used with younger patients. |
