Voice pitch extraction using a real-time digital filter bank
A method of detecting the pitch frequency of voiced speech is described which exploits the harmonic structure of the short-time spectrum. The technique is to form a harmonic histogram and select the pitch value as the frequency of the largest component. The short-time spectra are generated in real-t...

Summary: | A method of detecting the pitch frequency of voiced speech is described which exploits the harmonic structure of the short-time spectrum. The technique is to form a harmonic histogram and select the pitch value as the frequency of the largest component. The short-time spectra are generated in real-time using a high resolution real-time digital filter bank. The conditioned outputs of the filter bank are connected to a microcomputer which is used to form the harmonic histograms, and select the most likely pitch value on a frame to frame basis |
