SINEs of the Perfect Character
A new study shows that SINEs and LINEs (short and long interspersed elements, respectively) provide a perfect record of the evolutionary history of the major lineages of artiodactyl mammals and confirm that hippopotamuses are the closest extant relatives of whales.
