Summary:The purpose of this study is to investigate pre-service teachers' self efficacy beliefs and their attitudes towards teaching profession and also to explore the relationships between pre-service teachers' self efficacy beliefs and their attitudes towards teaching profession. The population of the study was consisting of a total number of 1.351 (F=584, M=723) 4th grade students, studying at Inönü University, Faculty of Education, during 2006-2007 semester. Sample of the study was consisting of 380 students chosen by stratified sampling method Research results revealed that pre-service teachers' self efficacy beliefs differ significantly in terms of gender, preference rank of department, department/program, and education type (day/night course) variables. Results also showed that students' attitudes towards teaching profession did not differ in terms of any research variable. Lastly, a lower but significant correlation was found between students' self efficacy beliefs and their attitudes towards teaching profession.
