Description
Summary:The purpose of the present research is to make an evaluation of primary education Life Sciences course books and workbooks according to the opinions of the teachers. Eighty nine primary school teachers employed in 8 primary education schools in the centre of Ankara in the 2007- 2008 academic year were included in the research sample. A scale which was specifically developed was applied to the research group. The research findings revealed that Life Sciences course books were sufficient or partly sufficient in some respects in terms of content, learning, teaching, and measurement and evaluation, whereas they were insufficient in some other respects. As to the workbooks, it was found that they were in some ways lacking in learning facilitating activities and in visual elements, as well as in measurement and evaluation activities. In addition, recommendations for developing Life Sciences course books and workbooks were made as part of this research.
