Description
Summary:The study inquired about what contraceptive methods and measures are used by adult women and men. In addition their problems of use, their information-gathering behaviour, their preferred sources of information and the respondents' level of knowledge about the subject of birth control were investigated. The target group consisted of women and men between the ages of 18 and 49 who had had sexual intercourse within the last 12 months. A total of 1750 telephone interviews were conducted. The current survey is a repeat investigation of the 2003 and 2007 surveys. The contraceptive of first choice was the Pill (53%), followed by condoms (37%), IUD/IUS (10%) and sterilisation (10%). Age plays a significant role here. Problems of use are more common with the Pill than with condoms. There is a need for more information and research.
