Summary: | There are two recently published reports on endothelial function (EF) in patients with white coat hypertension (WCH) using vascular ultrasonography. Their results were conflicting. The aim of our study was to determine arterial compliance, a surrogate marker of EF in patients with a strong white coat effect, using diastolic pulsewave analysis. We were able to calculate proximal capacitive (C1) and distal reflective arterial compliance (C2) in 10 patients with a strong white coat effect determined by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). Their mean office systolic BP was 162.1 ± 19.9 mmHg and the mean daytime systolic ABPM was 133.1 ± 10.6 (p |
