Summary: | In high-speed motorcycle accidents, the sudden deceleration of the motorcycle lets the rider's testicle be pushed against the smooth wedge gasoline tank or handlebars and displaced laterally and superiorly according to the direction of the force during impact. [...]the testicle glides through the smooth loose coverings of the cord until it bursts through them and comes to lie in the superficial inguinal pouch anterior to the external oblique aponeurosis at the level of the external ring. The differential diagnosis includes an undescended testis, retractile testis, or trauma-induced testicular torsion with high position of the testis.3,6 Bilateral testicular dislocation is more rare and is reported in one third of cases.7 Abdominal ultrasound and CT scan could confirm that the testicle is intact and exclude coexisting problems such as testicular rupture, torsion, or hematoma.6,8 Manual reduction is the initial treatment of choice,5 and open surgical relocation and fixation of the testicle is needed when manual reduction has failed. |
