Summary:Objectives: The two major causes of increased large artery stiffness are aging and high blood pressure. The role of other risk factors especially hypercholesterolemia remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of high blood pressure and high cholesterol on the aortic stiffness, measured with the carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV), in Greek men. Methods and design: In this study 61 Greek male outpatients aged 43 to 65 years were included. PWV (m/sec) was measured with the automatic device Complior and blood pressure with th Dinamap.
