Summary: | Site specific empirical correlation models are proposed to estimate the compression index of inorganic marine clay at Kwangyang new port in Korea using 468 consolidation data. Regression analysis is carried out to make correlations in estimating compressi on index using both single and multiple soil parameters. Soil parameters used, include natural water content, void ratio, liquid limit, plasticity index, the passing percentage of 2 μm and specific gravity. Finally, it is found that the compression index predicted by simple multiple regression equations involving the natural water content, the natural void ratio and liquid limit can reasonably evaluate the real soil compression index. |
