Summary: | Change is central to adolescents' ability to answer "Who am I?" Change is something high school students are expected to do quickly as they travel from class to class wearing hats that vary from artist to historian to scientist. Because of the hectic nature of their school day, adolescents often struggle with and are rarely encouraged to see how these subjects have cross-curricular themes. Knowing that adolescents need time and opportunity to investigate who they are and who they want to become, we English language arts teachers can offer highquality young adult literature as a vehicle through which adolescents learn more about themselves and their changing world.
