Summary: | The level of desire to attend graduate or professional school after college rose rapidly among incoming college freshmen. The separate bearing of three factors (previous academic achievement, socio-economic ambition, and peer group attitude climate) upon this rise is examined, and the first two are also employed as controls on the third. In this study, peer group attitude climate is measured directly and found to have greatest positive influence where previous academic achievement was low and where socio-economic ambition was low or undetermined. |
