Summary: | A factor analysis of responses to 100 selected Minnesota Multiphasic items by patients previously diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenics revealed a "large commonness" among these patients. Four personality types are suggested: "socially normal paranoid," "grandiose and delusional paranoid," "evasive and well-integrated paranoid," and the "sensitive, inadequate, and withdrawn type." In general, the results confirm the traditional use of the paranoid classification, but at least 2 of the types are different enough to deserve separate classificatory labels. These are the "socially normal well-integrated person" and the "grandiose delusional types." |
