Summary: | 45 grad students report recalled dreams for 4 weeks. The low recall group remember more from the prewakening period, and have more neutral dreams. Students with high recall report more emotional content and more unpleasant dreams. Dreams followed by sleep are recalled as well as prewaking. Anxiety is more frequent in dreams that awaken the sleeper, and those followed by sleep are more pleasant. Findings "support some of the propositions in Freud's theory of dreams."
