Description
Summary:An attempt to devise a technique to indicate boys who could and could not be expected to conform to institutional life. Two sets of data was collected. The California Test of Personality (CTP) was administered to 116 delinquent white boys who had been in the Florida Industrial School for more than 30 days. For each boy an institutional adjustment index was determined. This was derived from the permanent record of all offenses during the commitment period (a specific score given to specific offenses). Relatively low -r's were secured between personality test and adjustment index scores, indicating that low scores on the CTP were obtained by boys with high adjustment scores and vice versa. Chi-square show these results to be statist meaningful. It is suggested that the CTP is a good tool to use in eliminating long periods of quarantine. Specifically, they suggest that boys who fall among the lowest 25% on this test be worked with individually. H. M. Trice.
