Summary: | An increasing number of reports and studies have concluded that the issues facing public administration, public health, and public education are essentially managerial. This article argues that, although the issues may be managerial, the solution will require more than good management. While the private sector has struggled with the issue of productivity and learned, often the hard way, that it is no longer competitive in many areas, four important lessons have emerged that are equally applicable to the management of public organizations and agencies. |
