Description
Summary:The ralation of conjugal power to adolescent identification with parents is examined in a secondary analysis of survey data obtained from 18,664 adolescents. The data indicate that adolescents who perceive conjugal relations as equalitarian are highest in identification with parents while those who perceive the mother as dominant are lowest. Sex differences in identification with a parent are not less in equalitarian families than other families. Some implications of the findings with regard to socialization and marital satisfaction are briefly discussed.
