Summary: | Much of the debate on transportation problems in general, and on President Carter's energy plan in particular, has been based on implicit assumptions that hardened into "wisdom" ten to twenty years ago. The author draws upon a substantial body of research to examine these received ideas and to demonstrate that many of our most cherished beliefs about transportation and energy simply are not true. In so doing, he suggests realistic policies that might solve transportation problems in the United States. |
