Summary: | An electrically heated furnace and a method to apply loads to full‐size insulating firebrick heated throughout to thermal equilibrium are described. Sixteen commercial brands of insulating firebrick of various use limits were tested under several loads over a range of temperatures. No correlation was found to exist between the weight and the resistance to hot loading or between the cold crushing strength and the hot load‐bearing capacity. |
