Description
Summary:An ecological survey was made of the fauna of a grass plain dominated by Themeda australis and Imperata cylindrica, on one of the southern Solomon Islands. The climate is tropical, with an average rainfall of about 76 in. and an average temperature of about 80 degrees F. The variations are small. The fauna included 1 mammal, 2 birds, 2 lizards, 100 insects (mainly Orthoptera, Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera), 5 spiders, 1 snail, and 1 wood-louse. Over 100 species were collected. These have not all been finally determined, the collections being deposited in the Imperial Institute of Entomology.
