Description
Summary:Current information is plentiful on availability of Med care. Some information is also available for the last 50 yrs. The absolute numbers of MD's has increased, but the ratios to pop has decreased. Though the number of Med Sch's has declined, the quality of Sch's is difficult to measure. The mean/average size of Med Sch's has doubled. The per capita availability of hosp's has declined, but the number of hospital beds has quadrupled since 1909; the mean/average size of hosp's has thus doubled. Cost & increased urbanization are involved. There is no data on the conduct of Med services, but the absolute number of active professional graduate nurses shows almost a 10-fold increase, or a 5-fold increase on a per capita basis. Now there are 2 professional nurses per MD. More information is needed to indicate the more complicated org of contemporary medicine. AA.
