Summary:Extensive research has been undertaken about Black English. Across the US, colleges integrate multicultural awareness in their teacher education programs. Preservice teachers are educated about Black English and the adverse effects that negative attitudes about Black English can have on students' motivation to learn. However, colleges should try to evaluate their programs and determine the effectiveness of their methods in educating preservice teachers.
