Summary:Recently analyzed faunal collections from two archaeological sites in northeast Mississippi add to the limited amount of information on the distribution and use of bison in the Southeast. Moreover, the presence of bison in this area is one more factor which needs to be considered in any attempt to understand the dramatic changes in settlement and subsistence which mark the late prehistory of northeast Mississippi.
