Summary: | "Greater need for bilingual speakers in many professions has led to increasing numbers of college students choosing to take four semesters of Spanish." In a mid-sized university in Pennsylvania this has resulted in overloaded classes for Spanish as a second language and, consequently, to faculty frustration and student dissatisfaction with this situation. As a remedy, the Spanish faculty decided to institute an intensive language program, concentrating four language semester programs into two semesters. The authors describe the implementation of the new course and consider some issues of improving it further. (DIPF/Bi.) |
