Summary: | This paper examines the challenges affecting the effective development and implementation of knowledge management (KM). Managing administrative processes in airport billing environment is becoming a challenge due to the need for effectiveness, cost reduction and increasing process complexity. The existing organisational knowledge hierarchy creates additional constraints in achieving management targets. In the application of KM, coherent and integrated approaches regarding operational and administrative business processes are lacking. The first results showed that interdependencies between the two directions of impact exist: firstly, mapping of processes among data, information and knowledge is influenced by the distinguished perceptions of the terms. Secondly, the transfer of tacit knowledge from executing employees to codified explicit process knowledge creates more transparency and insight and therefore process prevention. Thirdly, the meeting and workshop approach is time consuming and expensive, although the value of explicit knowledge descriptions is limited. |
