Description
Summary:The University of Michigan Press, 2011. xii + 305pp. $75.00 (Cloth) ISBN: 978-0472117727. $30.00 (paper) ISBN: 978-0472035229 Martels Textual Conspiracies reads like a guide book for a strategy of the Left in the face of a seemingly endless future of capitalism. (xi) His advice: (247) Challenging what Martel calls a conventional perception of politics, he seeks to decenter the intentional political subject in order to be able to think a Left project as hope-but not for us. (xi) In the face of the importance Martel attributes to the problem of intentionality, it is surprising that he omits the question of intentionality when it comes to Benjamins concept of constellations as a method, and hence his choice of authors. While he starts speaking as an author who intentionally forms, produces (10) or makes (12) a constellation, in the course of the book the authors or texts present evidence or show us certain insights.
