Summary:This paper is attempted to study the trends in the growth of health infrastructure. This is because; the health infrastructure is an important determinant of the demand for public health services. Studies carried out in the area of access to public health could come out with the major conclusion that the demand for public health is being determined by the availability of public health facilities. Also, the public health infrastructure could have a positive impact on the health related indicators like, the birth rate, death rate and infant mortality rate - the major indicators of related variables. Therefore, an analysis on the growth in health an infrastructure is incomplete without understanding the trends in the trends in movements of this health related variables. Hence, in the present chapter it is attempted to examine the trends in the growth of health infrastructure in the state of tamilnadu by its districts, the trends in the health related variables and the impact of the health facilities on the improvement in the health status as measured by the health related indicators like, the birth rate, death rate and infant mortality rate. In Section a comparative analysis of the health related performance of the state of Tamilnadu has been compared with the all India level. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
