Description
Summary:PRIETO BUSTOS, William Orlando. Labor intermediation. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2009, vol.12, n.23, pp. 35-58. ISSN 0120-6346. This article discusses the concept of labor market intermediation from three different points of view: microeconomic basis, operation, and norms, as well as its application in countries from the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), Latin America, and Colombia. Through the use of results from the microeconomic model, effects of labor market intermediation management are discussed and intermediation service schemes in labor markets with imperfect information are characterized. The main conclusion indicates that labor market intermediation is less effective in those countries where there is a high concentration or workers with a low level of training and a high level informal employment due to a separation of most productive workers from the least productive one, as a result of the intermediation management.
