description In this article, the animal names in Suhayl u Nevbahâr were studied in terms of origins and structural, semantic features. There are many animal names in the text of Masnavi. 96 animal names were used 606 times in the manuscripts text. 68 names are in Turkish, 18 names are in Persian, 8 names are in Arabic and 2 names are in Greek. The most commonly used names are: at (191), kus (53), arslan (30), it (25) and tavar (20). The majority of the names are Turkish. Today, 16 names of these animal names aren't used in Turkish: ahta, bedinus/bidnus, bûzine, çetük, deglügeç, esb, gurâb, murg, neheng, peleng, su issi, sîr, sütür murg, tayr, uçar ve yam.
