Description
Summary:Non-sequential double ionisation (NSDI) of CO in the tunnel ionisation regime is modelled and related to the Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital (HOMO) structure. Angularly resolved NSDI yields as a function of laser ellipticity is used to map nodal planes of the molecular orbital from which the electron is emitted. Peaks in the ellipticity dependence that are shifted to non-zero ellipticity and a finite degree of alignment are included in the model. Comparison with recent experiment reveals the presence of other orbitals contribution in CO when probed at 1350 nm.
