Description
Summary:This paper is a condensation of a study made over a period of five years of ten children in nursery school. The case of Colin, starting at the age of 3, has been chosen as representative. The first time the Rorschach had been used with so young a group. It seemed doubtful to us at that time and it may seem astonishing now that the Rorschach can be applied productively to young and inarticulate children. With the child not yet accustomed to cataloguing objects, with no verbal cliché or pattern to rely on, every act of recognition is also a significant discovery. Most things young children discover in the cards have a more inventive and subjective meaning. The close process analysis of the single association permits some conclusions and suggestions with regard to Colin's personality structure. Outstanding is the repetition of the same primitive form with different nuances and different material. Certainly Colin is not indifferent.
