Description
Summary:Reviews the book, Orthopsychiatry 1923–1948: Retrospect and Prospect Edited by Lawson G. Lowrey and Victoria Sloane (1948). To celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the American Orthopsychiatric Association, Lowrey asked representatives of the various disciplines which compose Ortho to contribute a “Retrospect and Prospect” of their own fields, especially as they are related to orthopsychiatry. For one who is himself a relative newcomer to Ortho, reading the papers dealing with the history of the child guidance movement and of Ortho itself was an engrossing experience, enriched by the exciting story of the successful launching and progress of our Association. The volume is recommended to all workers in’ the psychiatric field. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
