Description
Summary:Reviews the book, Color, Class and Personality by Robert L. Sutherland (see record 1942-02014-000). In 1935 a commission was organized by the American Council of Education to study the problems confronting American Youth. One of the series of investigations included a survey of the Negro youth population, of which this book is the summary. The leading question was-how does the fact of being born a Negro affect the developing personality of a boy or girl? To this purpose areas throughout the United States were sampled for study. The book includes specific recommendations for the solution of the various existent problems. This section is clear, specific and unemotional. It addresses the private and public welfare organizations, principally the religious, educational, and social work agencies. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved)
