Summary:Since hemopoietic mechanisms contribute to the pathogenesis of allergic disease we examined platelet abnormalities in patients with asthma and allergy. Adults and children with asthma and allergic diseases were studied. Platelet counts, eosinophils and mean platelet volume (MPV) were measured. Allergy tests for aeroallergens were done by skin or in vitro testing. IgE levels were measured using Pharmacia CAP System. A total of 111 patients aged 16 months to 76 years were studied.
