Surfactant Protein D (SP-D) Binds to Signal Regulatory Protein Alpha (SIRP-α) on Alveolar Macrophages and Dendritic Cells and Promotes Allergen-Induced Lymph-Node Directed Migration

Fluorescently labeled lung dendritic cells failed to migrate into the mediastinal lymph nodes after inhalation of allergen in SP-D-/- mice that were also unable to upregulate lung mRNA for Ccr7, a chemokine receptor, responsible for immune cell lymph-node homing.
