Striatal dopamine D2 receptor occupancy measurements using [123I]IBZM SPECT and [11C]Raclopride PET: A within-subject comparison study

Methods Twenty schizophrenic patients (10 male, 36.4±10.4 yrs.) on antipsychotic monotherapy with risperidone (n=7; 3-9 mg/d), olanzapine (n=5;5-20 mg/d) or clozapine (n=8;150-450 mg/d) at stable doses, and ten healthy volunteers (5 male, 26.4±6.2 yrs) underwent both a [123I]IBZM SPECT and a [11C]Ra...

Description
Summary:Methods Twenty schizophrenic patients (10 male, 36.4±10.4 yrs.) on antipsychotic monotherapy with risperidone (n=7; 3-9 mg/d), olanzapine (n=5;5-20 mg/d) or clozapine (n=8;150-450 mg/d) at stable doses, and ten healthy volunteers (5 male, 26.4±6.2 yrs) underwent both a [123I]IBZM SPECT and a [11C]Raclopride PET in random order on different days within a week, at the same time after last antipsychotic dose administration. SPECT was acquired at 120 min after a single bolus injection of the radioligand and reconstructed using filtered-backprojection (FBP) (Butterworth filter, exponent=5.0; cuttoff=0.4 cycle/pixel) with a uniform attenuation map.
