Summary:The concept of system is used more frequently in the urban geography in approaching the cities, the network of settlements and the other components. Both at national and regional level, the relative continuous character of urbanization in Romania is seen, outlining differentiation's in the urban system dynamic. pointing out the discontinuities that raise in the evolution of a city. The urban system of the SV region is characterized by the existence of three big towns, 10 medium-sized towns (35%) and 19 small towns. This paper present the principal aspects of the urban system dynamics, in the long and short term, from the angle of the evolution of the component towns and, indirect, of the relations between them. For this, the following indicators will be used: the annual growth rate and total grows rate of the population, the rank distribution, the rank variation in time and the hypertrophy rate.
