Description
Summary:The relations between the scientific community and mass media have always been rather conflictive. Whereas the scientific collective tends to consider that its presence on media is scarce and simplified by media professionals, journalists often complain about the problematic access to the experts and the difficulty for the audience to understand their specialized language. This article is focused on the role attributed by the media to scientists taking climate change as a key topic to frame this debate and staring at it from two different perspectives under a comparative framework: TV newscasts and movies. Results contribute to a better understanding about the secondary role attributed, most of the times, to the scientific discourse by the media, both at the news and fiction genres.
