Summary:Hand hygiene (HH) compliance direct observation requires observer training and validation. To improve care and prevention of infections in children with cancer worldwide, HH compliance is essential. Direct HH compliance observation is part of the World Health Organization (WHO) HH multimodal improvement strategy. In a situational analysis, we identified lack of training and validation of HH compliance observers at our international partner sites.
