Summary: | When we are told that the goal here is "an amusing, virtuoso dialogue" (ein heiter-virtuoses Gespräch, 45), and that finally The E at Delphi is "an amusing literary greeting to Athens" (ein heiterer literarischer Gruss nach Athen, 46) intended as "a nice little display piece" (hübsches Kabinettstückchen), rather than a serious treatment of the "E" (67), Obsieger seems to be telling us that for him, in contrast to traditional readers, the dialogue is "honey all the way," pure rhetorical entertainment (on philosophical themes), never responding to the demands that are placed on serious philosophical demonstration. |
