Long-term dynamics of Sea of Azov contamination with the ^sup 137^Cs isotope (1966-2013)

Summary: | In this communication, we analyze the published and original data on 137Cs concentrations in bottom sediments correlated with the grain size composition and variations in radioactive contamination of the Sea of Azov in the period from 1966 to 2013. Taking into consideration the general reduction in the influx of 137Cs from the atmosphere, other seas, and the drainage area, the bottom sediments may represent an important source of secondary radioactive contamination in the Sea of Azov. |
