Summary:Objective. Propose and test a methodology for analyzing the information from high-impact crimes in the State of Morelos, Mexico in the period 2012-2013. Methodology. The basic information comes from the Executive Secretariat of the National System of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior for the next eight crimes: kidnapping, homicide, malicious wounding with a knife, common robbery without violence bystanders, common robbery passersby with violence, theft common vehicles without violence common vehicle theft with violence and extortion. Population projections of the National Population Council and the catalog of municipalities from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography were used. Results: crime rates were calculated per 100 thousand inhabitants. Improvements in automation, coding and rates generation were implemented that allow integration with other sources of information. The resulting database was used for mapping. An example of mapping is presented. Conclusions: We were able to detect processes that had not been considered in a number of developed schemes and a review of the types of maps is required.
