Description
Summary:This study aims to assess the prevalence of arterial hypertension and the risk factors associated with it among adolescents. A cross-sectional study developed with 211 adolescent students was carried out. The prevalence of arterial hypertension was assessed and its relationship with weight excess, physical activity and capillary glucose was verified. The prevalence of arterial hypertension was 13.7%. No association was found between high blood pressure and weight excess and the levels of physical activity. Adolescents with high capillary glucose presented greater chances of developing arterial hypertension. The studied adolescents presented a high prevalence of arterial hypertension. The cases of hypertension were only associated with high capillary glucose.
