Trend of major earthquakes during the period 1900–2011 and its association with some solar and geomagnetic parameters

The paper presents long term trend of major earthquake (magnitude ≥6 Richter scale) occurrence throughout world. Analysis shows that occurrence trend decreases during the period 1900–1962, afterwards the trend increases. Solar coronal index, geomagnetic disturbance indices ( Kp , Ap index) follow th...

Description
Summary:The paper presents long term trend of major earthquake (magnitude ≥6 Richter scale) occurrence throughout world. Analysis shows that occurrence trend decreases during the period 1900–1962, afterwards the trend increases. Solar coronal index, geomagnetic disturbance indices ( Kp , Ap index) follow the opposite trend during the above mentioned period. Possible explanation is presented.
