Description
Summary:This article aims to report a teaching experience in which the concept of community was discussed, articulated to the performance of the nurse in such context. This experience occurred during the subject of Oriented Teaching II, of the Masters Course in Nursing of Universidade Federal de Santa Maria and it was carried out in the subject of Collective Health II of the Nursing Undergraduate course of the same institution. Nineteen undergraduate students participated on the activity. The methodology was founded on the problematization of themes and the classes were divided into two moments. The undergraduate students reports gave rise to two categories: concepts and characteristics of community and the performance of the nurse in the community. Community should be perceived as a space beyond its geographical concept, also being characterized by the specicities of the subjects who live in it. The nurse is considered a relevant professional to work with community questions, once he establishes bonds that are entangled his activities according to the knowledge of aspects of the population. Thus, the problematizing methodology collaborated for a better development of the proposed themes, enabling knowledge transformation and construction concerning students.
