Summary: | Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have been widely used in liquid crystal display (LCD) backlight modules. In general, the light emitted by the LED backlight modules is not un-polarized light. However, our experiment results and analysis show that the light is partial polarization. The characteristics of partial polarization obtained in the experiment and analysis are utilized to increase the brightness of LCD backlight module, and then the results of this study demonstrate that the brightness can be increased by 46%. Thus, this study provides a method to increase the brightness of LCD backlight modules. |
